Day Day Jones is the deuteragonist in Next Friday and Friday After Next.

Next Friday (2000)[]

Day-Day first appears in Next Friday when his cousin, Craig, comes to live with him and his sex-crazed father in their mansion in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He reveals that his mother passed away due to a heart attack caused by the shock of winning the lottery. He had a girlfriend named D'Wana and he dumped her after he found out she was pregnant and he put a restraining order against her after she keeps bringing her little sister, Baby D, (who he also has a restraining order against) to come beat him up and sit on him and D'Wana once sprayed him with pepper spray and keyed his car. After D’Wana and Baby D’ show up to Pinky’s, Day-Day asks Craig if he can go lock the door as he’s the one who beat up Deebo, and can hold his own against a fight with Baby D’. This leads to Baby D’ and D’Wana coming in. D’Wana lies about going to the rest room as she can see through Craig’s lie that Day-Day wasn’t in the store. After calming Baby D’ down, she requests that Day-Day hook her up with Craig, he refuses and causes Day-Day’s car to get a brick smashed through. Upon seeing that Day-Day is upset about his day, Craig and Roach offer him weed to calm him down. Unfortunately, the front door of the store is still locked and Day-Day’s manager, Pinky, unlocks the door and mistakes Craig as a robber and pulls a gun on him. Upset about losing the fight with Craig, Pinky ends up firing Day-Day and Roach for no reason. Obviously upsetting the two.

Friday After Next (2002)[]

Day-Day reappears again in Friday After Next. 2 years after the events of Next Friday, Day-Day and Craig are roommates in an apartment. We first see Day-Day asleep with his dog Chico, mumbling about the things he wants for Christmas. He doesn't wake up when Craig cries out for help while getting robbed and beat up by a criminal dressed as Santa Claus. Him and Craig also start their new security jobs to pay for their rent money and Day Day decides that his new job is more important than he thinks, and totally abuses his power. However, Day-Day ends up upsetting neighborhood thugs that were the grandsons of the women he kicked out of the strip mall, asking Money Mike to hide him and Craig, the thugs end up finding Moly, Craig and Day-Day’s manager, and beats him up, mistakenly thinking that he was the one who hid them. Moly shows up to the barbecue shops furious that Craig and Day-Day weren’t around to defend him from the thugs, and fires the two from their jobs. Craig and Day-Day’s family gets furious and beat up on Moly and snitch him out to the local health inspector.

Last Friday[]

Day Day help's Craig Break Smokey out of rehab.

Quotes[]

  • "look at my roof! Look at my roof! You play to much" - to Craig
  • “Man don’t be worrying about what I’m doing! Why y’all didn’t do nothing when the fat bitch jumped on me?! Y’all a trip!” -to Craig
  • ”Someone call 911!”-to Moly, mocking him for getting beat up
  • “She sprayed the player! She sprayed the pimp!”-to Craig and his Dad Elroy, after being pepper sprayed by D’Wana

Trivia[]

  • He is portrayed by Mike Epps
  • Day Day's purpose is to fill in Smokey's absence as Craig's buddy yet also incompetent, slacking friend.
  • Despite him replacing Smokey as Craig’s friend, Day-Day is almost nothing like Smokey, such as always whining about his problems to people like Craig.
